Snow Management
Snow Removal & Ice Management in Central Massachusetts
Seasonal plowing, shoveling and salting contracts for driveways, walkways and commercial lots.
Snow management is a contract business, not a call-when-it-snows business, and the reason is simple: when eight inches falls overnight, every plow in the region is already committed to a route. The properties that get cleared are the properties that were on the list in October. Greener Grass Landscaping takes on a set number of residential and commercial accounts for the season and runs them as a route — which is why reserving before the season, rather than during the first storm, is the whole game.
Service covers residential driveways, walkways and entries, and commercial parking lots, access drives, loading areas and sidewalks. Plowing to a pre-agreed trigger depth, hand or machine clearing of walks and entries, and salt or ice-melt application on the surfaces where liability actually lives — the walk to the front door, the handicapped spaces, the ramp, the entry apron. Commercial clients in Massachusetts carry a real slip-and-fall exposure on their own sidewalks, and a documented, scheduled service is a large part of managing it.
How a snow contract works
- 1
Walk the property before the snow
In the fall, while the ground is still visible: where the snow can be pushed and stacked, where drainage runs, what has to stay clear, and what could be hit if it were buried.
- 2
Set triggers and scope
The depth at which we roll, what gets plowed, what gets shoveled, whether salt is included per application or in the seasonal rate, and who gets called first.
- 3
Stake and prepare
Drive edges, islands, hydrants and beds marked before the first storm so nothing gets clipped when the ground is white and the light is bad.
- 4
Run the storm, then clean up
Clearing during and after the event, a return pass for drifting and town plow windrows at the apron, and salt where ice will form as it refreezes overnight.
Why it matters
Reserved capacity, not a queue
A seasonal contract means the property is on a route before the first flake. That is the difference between being cleared by 6am and hoping.
Residential and commercial
Driveways and entries for homeowners; lots, access drives, loading areas and sidewalks for businesses and property managers.
Ice, not just snow
Salt and ice-melt on walks, ramps and entries — where the refreeze happens and where the liability sits.
A crew that knows the property
The same company maintains the lawn, the beds and the hardscape in summer, so the plow knows where the walk edge and the wall caps are under the snow.
Seasonal timing
Reserve your snow contract before the season
Routes fill through the fall and are effectively closed once the first plowable storm lands. If you want a driveway or a lot covered this winter, the conversation to have in October is the one that keeps you off the waiting list in January.
