Greener Grass Landscaping Inc. in Worcester
Worcester is called the City of Seven Hills for a reason, and everything about landscaping here follows from the topography. Streets climb and fall sharply, front yards are frequently a short, steep bank between the sidewalk and the house, and the granite and concrete retaining walls holding those banks up are often as old as the triple-deckers behind them. Where a bank has washed, slumped or lost its wall, the fix is a properly drained retaining wall and a re-grade — not more loam and grass seed, which will be at the bottom of the hill again by the second spring.
The city's lots are small and its parking is on the street, which makes the winter a logistics problem as much as a plowing one: there is nowhere to put snow on a Vernon Hill or Grafton Hill street unless you have thought about it in advance. On the west side — Tatnuck, Salisbury Street, Newton Square — lots get larger, the tree canopy is heavier, and the work looks more like the suburbs: mowing routes, mature-tree pruning, patios and walls.
Worcester also runs on institutions and small commercial property — colleges, medical offices, churches, restaurants along Shrewsbury Street and small plazas on Park Avenue — all of which need grounds that look maintained on a fixed schedule and lots and sidewalks cleared before opening. Greener Grass Landscaping handles both sides of that: residential property care and commercial grounds and snow contracts.
What Worcester properties tend to need
Steep front banks
The classic Worcester front yard is a bank that is hard to mow and slowly moving. A drained wall with a level lawn or planted terrace above it solves both at once.
Commercial lots and sidewalks
Businesses here carry real slip-and-fall exposure on their own walks. Scheduled plowing and salting with a set trigger depth is how that gets managed.
Triple-decker lots
Small, hemmed-in yards where equipment access is the first question. Small-machine and hand work, and tree removals that get roped down.
Seasonal note
Worcester reliably takes more snow than the coast — the hills and the elevation see it turn over to snow when Boston is still getting rain. Commercial accounts should be locked before Thanksgiving.
